The eFund offers Personal Share Portfolios as one of the Investment Options that members can choose from.
A personalised share portfolio (PSP) enables an eFund member to handle their retirement fund in a bespoke fashion as opposed to having it managed as part of the larger fund. This investment choice is only available to individuals with sizable retirement fund assets.
PSP’s are managed according to Regulation 28 of the Pension Funds Act but generally speaking have greater exposure to equities (up to a maximum of 75%) than a typical retirement fund investment (± 50% to 60% exposure to equities) thereby making it less conservative with a high investment risk profile. In opting for a PSP the retirement fund member can work closely with a Stockbroker who will construct a suitable portfolio geared to the individual needs of the member.
Internet access is given to the member to view their account. PSP’s are more administratively intensive and tend to be slightly more expensive than a typical retirement fund investment.
Should a member select this investment option, it is important to note that he/she would be assuming responsibility for their own retirement planning with a high investment risk profile.
Members opting for the PSP investment choice will be required to sign a consent form, indemnifying their Employer as well as the Trustees of the eFund Umbrella Retirement Funds from any poor performance on their PSP portfolios.
